I enjoy a bit of irony as much as the next person. However, I am tired of seeing hipsters who live their entire lives ironically. They go to dive bars or unhip Chinese restaurants and then mock the places. Or they take up adult dodgeball leagues to show how absolutely ridiculous it is to any kind of sincerity, effort, having or sharing goals, and expressing any kind of real emotion Ridiculing others and living a snarky life is not that hard. Although, I imagine that the list of what should be viewed as hip and what is ironic must change pretty frequently and must be exhausting to keep abreast of. Creating something or putting all your energy into a dream is risky sometimes it has to be worth it. I'm not suggesting that you wear your heart on your sleeve like Dorothy Parker said, "a big wet stain." but life is too short to live entirely in subtext
